Mimi Tran Design – Red Carpet Collection A/W15

Mimi Tran, who is mainly known in Paris and San Francisco, brings her collection to London’s Fashion Week, inside the infamous Freemasons Building. I was excited to see some designs from across the pond with Parisian discipline, and least to say I was not disappointed with the collection at all.

The lights dimmed in the room, Lana Del Ray blasting out the speakers. The spotlights came up and the show started. The first opening look said it all, very young Hollywood actress at the Vanity Fair party, black sequined details with an opaque backing – giving that sexy seduction we all love.

The collection was full of surprises; lots of lace, sequins, subtle prints and architectural shapes with bursts of colours throughout – the designer really was thinking about her woman. Every girl loves their individual look, and Mimi had included separate pieces within the collection such as coats, jackets and skirts – perfect for mixing and matching.

My ultimate favourite from the collection was an all over Gold dress, which came down to the floor – revealing the one leg. Pure beauty and elegance, it would be any actress’ dream to wear that to the Oscars, and against the red who could deny you’re the best dressed. The overall look of the dress was beautiful; the detail on it even more so; the pattern was like a gold leaf snakeskin, which must have taken hours to make.

Finishing the collection with a white lace wedding gown on a see-through organza material was just the icing on the cake; the crowd went crazy when the designer emerged in a plunging leather croc detailed dress. I believe woman are becoming more adventurous in the clothing they are wearing whether it’s something sexy, bold or popping with colour – the future of womenswear is changing for the better.
