How did your career in Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle begin?
I’ve always been a non-conformist and as a kid growing up in Scotland would always try out the craziest trends from Europe and the globe! I started out training in Journalism and it wasn’t until my late 20’s I realised that I could combine my love of fashion and beauty with my career in journalism and TV.
You hold a lot of titles, do you think that important to be successful at what you do?
I think it shows how hard I’ve worked and gives me a bit of credibility as it shows the knowledge I’ve acquired along the way.
You’ve been listed at the Top 100 influencers at LFW, how did that come about?
I really don’t bloody know I’m just a social media addict I suppose and am relentless with my tweets/facebook posts and Instagram posts over LFW. I’m constantly commenting on show after show and giving my trend forecasts so it must just be a bit of a combination my love of fashion and my social media addiction
We all know that you’re a wife and a mother, how do you manage to balance it all?
It’s hard work I’m not going to lie. I don’t have a nanny and am always going a million miles an hour. I don’t have weekends off from work as social media is 24/7 and being a mum is a full-time job in itself let alone being freelance. My home is a chaotic world wind but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m up at 5 and go to bed around 12.30. Sleep is for the weak lol
What are your thoughts about being paid to post about a brand?
I would only post about a brand I believe in as my readers kindly trust my opinion. I’ve declined loads of products and fees as I haven’t liked the brands.
You regularly post on big social media platforms, do you approach them or do they you, what’s the secret?
Wow, do I? Thanks for that. I don’t know, they just approach me. I’ve never approached them so I really don’t know what the answer would be??
Do you think having a big Social Media following helps you bag big deals?
I definitely notice a difference with work deals in the last few years since my show aired and my followers grew. So yes I’d definitely say so.
You’re collaborating with Brix and Bailey, can you tell me more about it?
Is there anything else you can reveal you have in the pipeline for 2016?
I’m going to be representing hair brand Anca Te over 2016, I have a Fashion series I’m filming weekly for Matrix Daily an entertainment channel and I’m filming fashion for Ontrax Music channel so it should be a fab crazy busy year.
What would your advice be to people wanting to emulate what you’ve done?
Take gorgeous pictures wherever you are and read as much as you can. Knowledge is power!
